Team Players

Are you a team-player? I'm one who believe that a lot can be achieved when you work as a team.

Maybe it comes from the fact that I come from a big, close-knit family. We are independent, yet inter-dependent. We seek one another when we need help & we are always ready to lend a hand. We are fiercely protective of each other. We know we each have our own failings, but we are overly defensive if ever others dare to speak negatively about any one of us.

The same goes with the people I work with. I'm part of a great team of people who have achieved so much more because we work together, laugh together & are comfortable with each other. We are inter-dependent, we each have our own shortcomings, we can be constructively critical of each other, but ultimately, we know that our strength lies in being and working together.

Recently I've had the pleasure of working with another wonderful team of people who is led by Zaharim. They are young & enthusiastic. They have good ideas! Some are serious, some incredibly funny! Some are more committed than others but of course this is expected in any new team. As the team evolves, some team members will leave while others stay & firm up their commitment. This is a natural process of team-building. Ultimately, each member will realize their own strengths; recognize the contribution of others; & learn to rely on one another. 

It is then that they become a Team Player.

The Maturing Electorate

The 12th General Election is just over. The result is quite shocking, both to BN & the Opposition parties. The people of Malaysia have spoken & their message to the Government is very loud & clear. We want a Government which is more transparent, accountable and more sensitive to the needs of the people. 

I feel excited about the election & the election results like never before. Maybe its the fact that I now understand better why and what I'm voting for. I now have expectations of the representatives that I voted into the Government. It's truly refreshing to actually care about who governs and what their policies and plans are for the rakyat.

To the Opposition parties forming the 5 state governments: your work is just beginning. 

The maturing electorate is watching.

The Secret Diary

I am a reluctant blogger, I admit. 

I was told that a blog is a virtual diary and I've always believed that diaries should be kept private, documenting your deepest thoughts and heart's most secret desires.

But here I am, writing, thinking that it's not such a bad idea keeping my thoughts in digital archives virtually, for my kids to read one day when they grow up.

So, the diary is not so secret any more. 

Can anything be kept secret these days?
